In the modern world, it seems obvious that almost everyone has access to the Internet whether through a computer or smartphone. Thanks to this map from the team at Ooma, we can learn that some locations are more connected than others. The team used data from the American Community Survey to figure out which cities have the highest number of households connected to the Internet. They counted the number of connections per household and plotted out the cities with the most and fewest connections. The team also took a step further and calculated the%age of households in a given city that had Internet connections.

Here were the results for the highest number of connected households:

  1. Boulder, Colorado: 95.5%
  2. San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, California: 95.4%
  3. Santa Rosa-Petaluma, California: 95.4%
  4. Ogden-Clearfield, Utah: 95.3%
  5. San Francisco-Oakland-Berkeley, California: 94.9%
  6. Washington, D.C.-Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia, and parts of Maryland and West Virginia in the metro area: 94.9%
  7. Manchester-Nashua, New Hampshire: 94.8%
  8. Anchorage, Alaska: 94.8%
  9. San Diego-Chula Vista-Carlsbad, California: 94.7%
  10. Bremerton-Silverdale-Port Orchard, Washington, and Barnstable Town, Massachusets (tie): 94.7%

Was your city one that has the most Internet connections, or one with the least?
