Income disparity is an issue people are hyper aware of during this current climate of inflation and high prices on housing and goods. The locations of the highest and lowest income gaps can give insight into this issue. It reveals problems high gaps might cause, possible reasons for gaps, and pinpoint places where housing is the most and least affordable for the average person. The team at Madison Trust Company created such a map to highlight areas where the gaps are biggest and smallest.

They found that these cities had the highest income equality gaps:

  1. Manhattan, NY
  2. White Plains, NY
  3. San Francisco, CA
  4. Oakland, CA
  5. Danbury, CT
  6. San Rafael, CA
  7. Coalville, UT
  8. Dedham, MA
  9. Rockville, MD
  10. Morristown, NJ

These are the cities with the smallest gaps:

  1. Sarita, TX
  2. Cuthbert, GA
  3. Dubois, ID
  4. Crawfordville, GA
  5. Marion, AL
  6. Campton, KY
  7. Beattyville, KY
  8. Hermitage, MO
  9. Sierra Blanca, TX
  10. Brewster, NE

Do you live in one of the cities with the largest, or smallest, income gaps?
