How to live a long and happy life

As we get older life seems to speed up, with each year passing faster than the previous one. Before you know it, you’re retired from your job and attending a whirlwind of grandkids’ birthday parties. Watching these little kids run around and play, seeing them without a care in the world and not having a clue about the busy hectic futures they have before them. What advice would you give these youngsters? If you could actually get a 5 year old to stop and really listen for three minutes, that is.

Below are some quotes I recently came across that came from some of the oldest people to have ever walked this Earth. I figure their 110+ years of wisdom earned them a moment in the spotlight.

Jeanna Calment, a French woman, holds the record for being the oldest person at a whopping 122 years old! She lived through interesting times like both of the world wars, the introduction of both the car and the telephone, and she even had the chance to meet Vincent Van Gogh! She credits her long and exciting life to not worrying about anything she couldn’t control, something we can all work to be better at!

Nabi Tajima’s advice for living a long life, and not to mention your BEST life, is to “eat delicious things”…. a rule I think we can all follow ;) Nabi is from Japan and up until her recent passing in April 2018, she was the last living person that has been born in the 19th century. Can you imagine having lived through the entirety of the 20th century!? Incredible.

Quite possibly my favorite quote out of these words of wisdom was from 116 year old U.S. resident Susannah Mushatt Jones. She had no one secret for how to live a long life, she believes the love of her family is what carried her on through her many years.

There you have it. The secret to living a long and prosperous life is to not worry, eat delicious things, and rely on the love of your family to get you through.

I think I can handle that.
